Born and raised in London, England, Keith Scales moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1970, where he worked as an actor, director, teacher, organizer and writer.
He was Artistic Director for the Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon 1993-2008, for which he also developed English versions of sixteen of the ancient texts.
He has received several research fellowships, including trips to Ireland, Japan, France, Greece and England. In 2002 he was the first recipient of the prestigious Regional Arts and Culture Council Masters Fellowship, which took him to Cornwall and the South of France to visit sites associated with the Grail legend. In 2008 he received a Fishtrap Fellowship, which gave him three months in a cabin in the Wallowa Mountains to write.

In 2008 Roastbooks, UK published his novella, The Cloverleaf Development,* and his short story, A Sop of All This Solid Globe.
The Fool in the Forest, a re-telling of the Perceval legend, was published on Audiotape by Leo productions.
He currently resides in Eureka Springs Arkansas, where he is the Artistic Director of Shakespeare in the Ozarks, and otherwise concentrating on writing for publication.
As a Chautauqua speaker he has delivered one-person lecture/performances on the lives and works of Shakespeare, Yeats, the Greeks, other major poets and dramatists. His The Fire and the Rose is one-person performance tracing the development of the Grail legend.
His play What Mad Pursuit was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award in 2007.
